3K security personnel on election duty in Yamunanagar district

The district administration in Yamunanagar has made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of the Assembly elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

As many as 3,117 policemen, including jawans of home guard and special police officers, will be deployed on election duty.

Besides, eight companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will also be deployed in the district.

The votes will be cast in Haryana on October 5 and the counting of votes will take place on October 8.

Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia said a concrete action plan had been prepared by the district police to ensure that the Assembly poll was conducted in a peaceful, fair and free manner so that the voters could exercise their franchise fearlessly in a peaceful environment.

He said, “Along with this, eight companies of the Central Armed Police Forces have also been deployed for critical booths, patrolling duty and on inter-state checkposts,” said Ganga Ram Punia.

According to information, the voters would cast their votes at 979 booths located at a total of 616 places.

A total of 56 patrolling parties will be deployed on duty in the district and there will be five policemen in every patrolling party. Wireless sets have also been installed on these 56 vehicles so that there is uninterrupted communication.

“In case of any possibility of disorder/untoward incident at any booth, these patrolling parties will reach the spot within 10 minutes and assist the policemen deployed at the booth,” said Ganga Ram Punia. He said Deputy Superintendent of Police rank nodal police officers had been appointed in each Assembly constituency to ensure that the election process was completed with proper security arrangements.

He further said Inspector rank officers had been appointed as second in-charge with them.

“Three platoons have also been prepared at the district level to maintain law and order. Along with this, 33 ERVs (Dial-112 vehicles), Durga Shakti and Quick Response Teams will be deployed in the district,” said Ganga Ram Punia.

SP said adequate arrangements of food, drinking water and accommodation had been made for the jawans engaged in the elections.
