369 schools fail to update mid-day meal data on govt portal, clarification sought
The Department of Elementary Education has directed 369 government schools functioning in 14 districts to clarify within three days why they did not upload data of mid-day meal on the government portal on November 28.
The uploading of report regarding mid-day meal on the automatic monitoring system (AMS) portal every day is mandatory. In the report, mid-day meal in-charge in school states the meal was served to how many students on particular day, said an official.
Sources claimed that 46 government schools of Rewari, 11 of Ambala, 16 of Bhiwani, 28 of Charkhi Dadri, 83 of Fatehabad, 18 each of Jhajjar and Gurugram, 24 of Karnal, 35 of Kurukshetra, 59 of Mahendragarh, five of Mewat, three of Sirsa, 17 of Sonepat and six of Yamunanagar districts did not upload report about the mid-day meal served at respective institutions on the government portal on November 28.
“District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) have been directed many times that a daily report about serving of fresh mid-day meal to students from Class I to VIII is to be uploaded on the portal mandatorily. Despite directive, cent-percent report is not being uploaded on the portal in many districts,” said a letter sent to the DEEOs from the office of Director General, Elementary Education, recently.
The letter states that on November 28, cent-per cent data of mid-day meal was updated by schools in Faridabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat and Rohtak districts. The letter further states that report of 369 schools in 14 districts was not uploaded on the portal indicating that the meal was not served to students in schools on November 28.
Rewari DEEO Kapil Punia said mid-day meal in-charge of schools concerned had been asked to submit their clarification why they did not upload data on the portal on November 28. Ali Mohammad, District Programme Executive, mid-day meal, said data could not be uploaded on the portal on November 28 due to some technical issues in processing.
