In a significant achievement, 35 panchayats in Sirsa have been declared tuberculosis (TB)-free. At a ceremony held at the district's mini secretariat to mark this milestone, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Lakshit Sareen honoured the panchayat representatives with commemorative awards and certificates.

ADC Sareen credited the success to the combined efforts of the district administration and the Health and Family Welfare Department. He announced that efforts would now intensify to make the entire district TB-free. Sareen praised the Health officials and staff for their dedication and emphasised the need for monitoring these panchayats to ensure they remain TB-free. He highlighted that following the Health Department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), it is essential for a panchayat to achieve and maintain TB-free status.

Sareen urged the public not to fear TB, as it was preventable and treatable when detected early, and encouraged everyone to undergo regular health check-ups.

The ADC also urged panchayats to support eco-friendly practices, specifically proper stubble management. He explained that stubble burning harmed the environment and exacerbated respiratory issues, especially for vulnerable groups like TB patients. Sareen encouraged panchayats to contribute to awareness campaigns against stubble burning with support from the Agriculture Department to help maintain soil fertility and keep the environment clean.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Lakshit Sareen honoured 35 TB-free panchayats in the district at the ceremony. These included the villages of Bhagsar, Mallri, Bijjuwali, Chakjalu, Jhuthikhera, Jotanwali, Lambi, Rajpura Majra, Ramgarh, Rampura Bishnoian, Budhimeri, Chilkani Dhab, Damdama, Dhani Bachan Singh, Dhani Sheran, Kesupura, Kripal Patti, Mithanpura, Mojukhera, Musli, Thobrian, Amritsar Khurd, Chakerian, Tilokewala, Chakraian, Dhamora Thehri, Dhani Bangi, Dhani Pratap Singh, Dhani Satnam Singh, Ghoranwali, Gobindpura, Mattuwala, Mohammadpuria, Bagguwali, and Shahidwali.
