Pt Neki Ram Sharma Government College here will host the Zonal Youth Festival from November 13 to 15 on its premises.

“Around 1,260 students of 33 different government and private colleges, falling under the Rohtak-Sonepat zone, will participate in 43 various arts categories -- classical music, light music, dance, theatre, literary, and fine arts,” said Lokesh Balhara, Principal, Neki Ram Sharma College.

He said the event would be organised in collaboration with dean student welfare, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak. Preparations had begun while the duties were assigned to college employees to make it successful, he added.

Dr Surender Sangwan, coordinator of the festival, said the event would be held at six different stages setup on the college premises.

“Stage-one will be in the open air theatre where group dance, classical dance, Haryanvi skit and mime will be organised. New act play, Sanskrit, song for parents/teachers/soldiers on stage-two in the auditorium; geet, ghazal/bhajan, folk dance at stage-3; poetic recitation Hindi and English on stage-4; on the spot painting, clay modeling and cartooning on stage-5 and declamation in Sanskrit, Sanskrit shlokas recitation will be held on stage-6,” he added.

Sangwan said former minister Manish Kumar Grover would be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony while Prof Rajbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MDU, would be present as guest of honour.
