Gurugram, July 17
The Gurugram Cyber Police arrested three persons for cheating people on the promise of increasing their credit card limits. A mobile phone was recovered from them.
According to the police, the arrested were identified as Bhardwaj and Aas Mohammad, alias Ashu, residents of Sector 91, Faridabad, and Lakhan of Sangam Vihar in Delhi. Bhardwaj and Aas Mohammad were arrested on Monday, while Lakhan was arrested on Tuesday.
A total of eight cases have been registered against the accused in different districts.
According to the police, a man filed a complaint at the Cybercrime West police station on April 24, reporting that a person posing as a bank employee cheated him of Rs 1.23 lakh by promising to increase his credit card limit. An FIR was registered, leading to the arrest of the three accused during the investigation.
“The accused used to call people and cheat them by obtaining their credit card details under the guise of increasing their credit card limit and offering loans. They would then fraudulently transfer money to their own bank accounts and distribute it among themselves,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP Cyber.
