3 get 20-yr jail in sexual abuse case

14-year-old had gone missing in April 2023; was traced 4 days later

A Fast Track Special Court under POCSO Act in Jagadhri sentenced three persons to 20 years of imprisonment each.

Yogesh alias Bunty of Bank Colony of Yamunanagar was convicted for kidnapping and sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl of another colony.

Two others, Atul Kumar of Budha Khera village of Ambala and Rajnish of Sabalpur village of Yamunanagar, were convicted for helping Yogesh in committing the crime.

Guldev Kumar, Special Public Prosecutor, said the fast track court had also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 each on Yogesh and Atul Kumar and Rs 38,000 on Rajnish.

He said that the judgment was pronounced on October 21.

The father of the minor girl told the police that his daughter went missing from their home around 6 am on April 24, 2023. He told the police that they searched for her at several places but failed to trace her.

On April 28, 2023, the girl was traced in Yogesh’s house, where she had been kept hostage in a room. Atul and Rajnish took Yogesh and the minor girl on a motorcycle to Thana Chhappar village of the Yamunanagar district, from where Yogesh took the girl to a village in Panchkula district in a bus.

During interrogation, Yogesh told the police that he kept the girl in a rented room and sexually abused her.
