2K college students of 5 districts to showcase talent in Rohtak
After the Zonal Youth Festival, now the stage is set for over 2,000 students from five districts -- Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Faridabad and Palwal districts -- to compete in various cultural events at the 43rd Inter Zonal Youth Festival—Unifest 2024. These are the students who recently took part in Zonal Youth Festivals and held positions in their respective zones.
The three-day event will start at Tagore Auditorium in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) campus here from November 18 and conclude on November 20. The Rehabilitation Council of India’s chairperson, Dr Sharanjeet Kaur, will be the chief guest at the inaugural function and Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh will preside over it.
Prof Randeep Rana, Dean (Students' Welfare), MDU, said the students of 40 government and private colleges affiliated to the MDU would participate in the inter-zonal youth festival to showcase their talent. The winners will be felicitated by state Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda at the prize distribution function to be held on November 20.
Pratap Rathee, Director (Youth Welfare), MDU, said literary-cultural events in music, dance, theatre, fine arts and literature would be held at different stages in the Tagore Auditorium, Radha Krishan Auditorium, Ambedkar Hall, FDC conference and seminar halls of the university.
“The teams, which were placed in the first three positions in various events in the Zonal Youth Festival(s) will be taking part in the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival. Elaborate arrangements are being made by the students' and youth welfare department for the smooth and successful conduct of the event,” he added.
Prof Rana, Rathee, and Sunit Mukherjee, Director (Public Relations) at MDU, released the brochure/ schedule of UNIFEST-2024 at a media interaction programme last evening.
Meanwhile Pandit Neki Ram Sharma College Rohtak, the host, clinched overall trophy by winning highest positions in the zonal youth festival of Rohtak-Sonepat zone here. The university teaching department (UTD) was declared runner-up in the festival.
Prof Surendra Sagwan, convener of the organising committee of the festival, said around 1,260 students of 33 different government and private colleges fall under the Rohtak-Sonepat Zone participated in 43 various arts categories in classical music, light music, dance, theatre, literary, and fine arts.
