290 canines win hearts at Karnal dog show

An all-breed pointed dog show was organised here in Sector 32 by the Karan Kennel Club, Karnal, on Sunday, in which 290 dogs of 42 breeds from various states, including exotic breeds that require exceptional upkeep, such as rottweilers, labradors, golden retrievers, chow chows, mini pinschers, cane corsos, boxers, dobermans, perro de presa canario, shih tzus, and others. During the show, each dog’s breed standards were judged, with results announced based on these criteria.

Giving details, Bittu, an organiser, said the dog lovers were very enthusiastic about the show. At the show, dogs showcased their agility, charm and breed-specific features. Among the star attractions was a pomeranian, capturing the crowd’s attention with its adorable looks and meticulously groomed fur. The pomeranian, owned by Mandeep from Ludhiana, is part of Mandeep’s extensive collection of 35 dogs. People flock to see his dogs, renowned for their care and appearance.

“I take care of 37 dogs. I spend my evenings with them, ensuring they are well looked after, especially my pomeranians. Most of my time is devoted to them, said Mandeep, who has an 800-square-yard home, including a 400-square-yard area dedicated entirely to his dogs.

Another highlight was also the perro de presa canario, a Spanish breed with puppies valued between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.

A dog lover from Fatehabad introduced his five-month-old puppy, valued at around Rs 40,000. “Caring for him is like looking after a child and he brings so much joy. I have other breeds too, including collie and labrador,” he added, sharing his passion for raising dogs just like family.

Meanwhile, a large number of people also reached there to take a glimpse of various breeds.
