25 polluting units sealed in Jhajjar, Power supply disconnected
The regional office of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) sealed 25 factories and disconnected their electricity connection for not complying with the norms. Significantly, it also found that some of such factories were functional, which were also sealed for the same reason some days ago.
The action was taken by a joint team of the HSPCB, Town and Country Planning, UHBVN, Police and Panchayat departments when it carried out inspection of the factories on Thursday while acting on the complaints in this respect.
Amit Kumar, Assistant Environmental Engineer, HSPCB, said a total 65 polluting units in Bahadurgarh and other places of the district were sealed and their electricity supply were disconnected. Following the action against the polluting units, the air quality index of the district was improving considerably, he added.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pradeep Dahiya said to check pollution, not only strict action was being taken against erring units but also people were being made aware about those activities which deteriorated the air quality. He said participation of citizens was necessary to control pollution.
“To control pollution caused by vehicles, outdated diesel and petrol vehicles have been banned. Also, special efforts are being made to promote public transport. Water is being sprayed on the roads and anti-smog guns are being used to control dust,” said the DC.
Meanwhile, Dahiya asked the officials concerned to send the utilisation certificate (UC) of the works completed which were undertaken under the Chief Minister's announcements. Apart from this, all departments should update the development works related to them on the portal so that the actual status could be known.
The DC also instructed the officials to complete the works undertaken under announcements made by the Chief Minister at the earliest. “Any kind of negligence regarding quality in development works will not be tolerated. If there is any obstacle at any level, my office should be informed immediately. These development are vital for the progress of the area,” he added.
