25 athletes from Haryana take part in Paris Olympics

The Olympic Games commenced in Paris today and India will be represented by a contingent of 115 athletes, of which 25 hail from Haryana.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini congratulated all the players. He expressed confidence in their abilities and hoped that they would excel in their respective events, bringing glory and honour to India on the global stage.
He said out of the total, the selection of 22 per cent players from Haryana was a matter of great pride for the entire state. He said both state government and people recognise the dedication, hard work and perseverance required to compete at this level. They are also aware of the physical and mental challenges the athletes face while preparing for such prestigious events. Consequently, the state government is committed to continuously support the athletes through various incentive schemes, he added.
The CM said in recognition of the athletes’ efforts, the state government awards the highest prize money in the country to Olympic medal winners. Gold medallists receive Rs 6 crore, silver medallists Rs 4 crore, and bronze winners get Rs 2.5 crore. Additionally, all participants from the state are awarded Rs 15 lakh each.
