2,224 overloaded vehicles challaned in Yamunanagar dist in past 11 months

Teams imposed fine of Rs 8.8 cr on owners of overloaded vehicles

Cracking a whip on violators, teams of Regional Transport Authority, Yamunanagar, have issued challans to 2,224 overloaded vehicles in Yamunanagar district in the past 11 months.

The teams of the department have also imposed a fine of Rs 8,08,19,000 (Rs 8.08 crore) on the owners of those overloaded vehicles.

Inspector Vikas Yadav of the Regional Transport Authority, Yamunanagar, said on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Capt Manoj Kumar, a drive was being carried out to stop overloading in vehicles in Yamunanagar district.

He said besides overloading, the challans were also issued of the vehicles, which were found running without insurance, pollution certificate and for violation of some other norms.

“The teams of the RTA have issued challans to 2,224 overloaded vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 8,08,19,000 on the owners of the vehicles from January 1 to November 30,” said Vikas Yadav.

Hairatjeet Kaur, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Yamunanagar, said a checking driver was being carried out on a regular basis to nail the overloaded vehicles in the district.

She said two teams of the RTA, Yamuanagar, one team during the day and the other team in the night, were conducting the checking drive in the district.

She said the drive would continue on a regular basis in future too to control overloading in the district.
