Twenty two passengers sustained injuries when a bus met with an accident in Yamunanagar district today. After giving treatment at Civil Hospital, Jagadhri, all injured persons were discharged.

The bus was moving at a very slow speed. Suddenly, its pressure pipe leaked, causing brake failure. However, due to the driver’s presence of mind, a major accident was averted — Sanjay Rawal, General Manager, Yamunanagar depot of Haryana Roadways

According to information, a Haryana Roadways bus was going to Ambala from Yamunanagar with 45-50 passengers on board.

When the bus reached near a toll plaza on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar-Saharanpur national highway at Gadhaula village in Yamunanagar district, it reportedly developed some snag. It ended up crashing into one of the dividers of the toll plaza.

“The bus was moving at a very slow speed. Suddenly, its pressure pipe leaked causing a brake failure. But, with the presence of mind of the bus driver, a major accident was averted,” said Sanjay Rawal, General Manager, Yamunanagar depot of Haryana Roadways.

Dr Anuj Mangla, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Jagadhri said 22 passengers were brought to the hospital and all the patients were discharged after giving treatment.

“Most of the passengers had sustained minor injuries. They were given treatment and later discharged from the hospital,” said Dr Mangla.
