2 wanted miscreants held after encounter in Sonepat

Miscreants, who were wanted in the petrol pump robbery incident in Kundli, admitted to the Civil Hospital after they sustained bullet injuries in an encounter on Friday.

The police arrested two miscreants, who were wanted in a petrol pump robbery and firing case of Kundli, after a brief encounter near Rewli village on the Murthal road. The police had announced an award of Rs 10,000 on each of them for their arrest.

Were involved in robbery

  • On October 28, four persons had robbed employees of the petrol pump near TDI Mall in Kundli.
  • When the employees tried to resist their attempt, they miscreants fired at them and a truck driver.

The accused have been identified as Jai Prakash and Vicky of Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The police team have recovered two pistols from their possession.

On October 28, Kuldeep, an employee of the petrol pump near TDI Mall in Kundli, in his complaint to the police, stated that he, along with his colleagues Sanjeev and Kishor, were on duty on the night of October 27, when four youths entered the office with weapons in their hands and attacked them. They took away all the cash from them and then took away cash from Pradeep, another employee, who was outside the petrol pump.

When they tried to put up resistance, they shot Kuldeep in his chest and Sanjeev in his leg and even shot at a driver who was there to get diesel filled in his truck. They shot five rounds of fire there and fled away on

Following the complaint, the police have registered a case and begun a probe.

Sub-Inspector Ravikant, Incharge, CIA-3 unit of the district police, on Friday received a tip-off about the miscreants’ presence in the fields at Rewli village.

Following the information, SI Ravikant, along with his team, raided the village and asked them to surrender. But, they opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police team also opened fire on them and both the miscreants sustained bullet injuries in their legs.

The police admitted both accused to the civil hospital, from where the doctors referred them to the PGIMS, Rohtak.

The FSL team also reached the spot and collected evidence from there. The accused would be produced in a court after their treatment.
