Two months after her husband’s death due to cardiac arrest, Kumudani Rakesh Daultabad has declared that she will contest elections from Badshahpur Assembly segment in Gurugram.

Rakesh Daultabad was a popular Independent MLA, who had passed away on May 25. His death took the constituency and political circles by shock and ever since, there were rumours of his family contesting the Vidhan Sabha elections. After much deliberation and announcement of support by 12 villages and 25 RWAs in the constituency, Kumudani has announced that she will be contesting as an Independent candidate.

She said: “I still can’t believe that he is no more. My husband considered the entire constituency like his family and served them relentlessly. He had big dreams for this constituency and now it’s up to me to fulfill those. People want me to support them the way he did and I have to adhere to their wishes,” she said.
