2 companies promising money online busted
The Haryana Police have busted a racket of companies that lure people with the promise of earning money from home. These companies first register a person on their website for a fee of Rs 5,000 and then entice them to earn money by filling captchas on the company’’s site. The captchas were then sold to foreign companies to earn profits in dollars.
In this case, the Haryana Police, along with the Home Ministry’’s cyber team, conducted a raid in Rohtak district on Friday and arrested three people. This raid lasted 10 hours. The company has defrauded 35,000 people through its website and committed a fraud of Rs 18 crore. The investigation is ongoing.
DGP Shatrujeet Kapur congratulated the Panchkula nodal cyber team of Haryana Police for the success.
A spokesperson for the Haryana Police said two companies — PCL and Money Earn 24 — were being run by Rohtak residents Johnny and Rohit. The company used to charge a registration fee of Rs 5,000 initially from people through which they registered themselves on the websites of these two companies. The investigation revealed that the money from the payment gateway of this company was sent to Udaipur. The company was also promoting these websites through social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram and Telegram.
During the raid, the team led by DSP Cyber Nodal Police, Panchkula, arrested the owners of both the companies along with another person, from whom a revolver was also recovered.
