The 12th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival, being organised at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar (GJUST), kicked off with a colourful start in the Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Auditorium of the university on Saturday.

In the inaugural ceremony of the two-day youth festival, the Vice-Chancellor of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Sushil Kumar Tomar, was present as the chief guest. GJUST Vice-Chancellor Narsiram Bishnoi presided over the function.

Chief guest Prof Sushil Kumar said, “India's youth are making their leading identity at the global level. On the strength of youth power, India will become a world leader in the next five years.” Kumar said teachers should also play active role in the growth of India.

“If the youth gets the right guidance, then no one can stop India from becoming a world leader. It is the responsibility of a teacher to guide the young minds,” he said.

The chief guest asked students to use their engineering and other technical abilities in the national interest. Referring to the great scientist JC Bose, he explained how a teacher and scientist can play a leading role in nation building. He said India's art, literature, yoga and food were being appreciated and adopted all over the world.

The GJUST Vice-Chancellor said India has a rich cultural heritage. He said art was not only a medium of entertainment, but also a medium of spiritual and moral energy and development.

Dean of Student Welfare Yogesh Chaba said teams from 18 colleges, affiliated to the university, were participating in 46 disciplines related to sports, fine arts and literary activities.
