In 13 grain markets of Yamunanagar district, 1,46,094 MT of grade-A paddy arrived till October 12. The Food and Supplies Department has purchased 79,764 MT of paddy, HAFED 35,152 MT and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 31,178 MT out of the total produce that reached grain markets.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manoj Kumar said 12,912 MT of paddy was purchased in Bilaspur grain market, 17,967 MT in Chhachhrauli grain market, 1,973 MT in Gumthala Rao grain market, 28,286 MT in Jagadhari grain market and 1,416 MT in Jathlana grain market.

He said 2,717 MT of paddy was purchased in Kharwan grain market, 10,525 MT in Pratap Nagar grain market, 34,770 MT in Saraswati Nagar grain market, 11,167 MT in Radaur grain market, 6,005 MT in Ranjitpur grain market, 6,100 MT in Rasulpur grain market, 1,2089 MT in Sadhaura grain market and 167 MT in Yamunanagar grain market.

The DC directed all procurement agencies to make arrangements for early lifting of paddy purchased from grain markets so that farmers could sell their produce conveniently.

He said farmers should bring their crops to grain markets after drying it so that they did not face any problem in selling their produce.

He ordered market committee officials to ensure availability of electricity, water and toilets and maintain cleanliness in grain markets. The DC further said he himself would visit grain markets from time to time and review the procurement work.
