Panipat district recorded an increase of 1.23 per cent in voter turnout during the 2024 Assembly elections in comparison to the previous polls held in October 2019. All four constituencies in the district witnessed 68.80 per cent voter turnout this year while in 2019 the voter turnout was recorded 67.57 percent.

Panipat (Rural) constituency witnessed an increase of 1.04 per cent in voter turnout this time with 69.34 per cent voters’ exercising their right to franchise. During the 2019 polls, 68.30 percent voters cast their vote.

Similarly, Panipat (City) recorded an increase of 7.12 per cent in polling. However, 62.62 per cent voter turnout in Panipat (City) was the lowest among all four constituencies of the district. The segment witnessed only 55.50 per cent voter turnout during the 2019 polls.

With a decline of 2.50 per cent in voter turnout, Israna (Reserved) constituency witnessed the second highest polling in the district with 70.20 per cent people turning up to cast their vote. The segment recorded 72.90 per cent voter turnout in the 2019 polls.

Similarly, Samalkha Assembly segment witnessed the highest voter turnout with 73.33 per cent people exercising their right to vote. However, the segment witnessed a decline of 1.63 per cent in voter turnout in comparison to the 2019 polls. The Samalkha constituency witnessed 74.98 per cent polling in the 2019 Assembly polls.

The district administration made efforts to educate people in the district about benefits of casting their vote. Several programmes were organised at schools, colleges, villages and city under this government’s initiative, said an official.
