The two-day Haryana History Congress started at Dayanand College in Hisar today. The 9th session of the event, which was attended by scholars, researchers and students, delved into Haryana’s rich historical heritage across ancient, medieval and modern periods.

Prof Narsiram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, inaugurated an exhibition in today’s session which was curated by the state Department of Archaeology and Museums and the Department of Archives.

In his keynote address, Bishnoi urged the youth to draw inspiration from Haryana’s glorious past and carry its traditions forward into the future. Vikramjit Singh, Principal of Dayanand College, said that the history congress provided a platform for students to gain in-depth insights into the state’s rich traditions through the contributions of experts.

Dr VN Prabhakar, Ancient Sectional President and Associate Professor at the Archaeology Centre, IIT, Gandhinagar, highlighted opportunities for young researchers to explore Haryana’s heritage sites . Prof Daljit Singh, Medieval Sectional President from Punjabi University, Patiala, discussed Haryana’s significant medieval history, focusing on the battles of Tarain and Panipat.

Prof Vikas Nautiyal, Modern Sectional President from Government College, Rajasthan, praised Haryana’s unique cultural identity and its pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.

The Congress featured presentations of research papers by scholars from 12 Indian states and South Korea, covering a wide range of topics related to Haryana’s heritage. Yashveer Singh, president of the Haryana History Congress, outlined the organisation’s achievements and future plans.
