Karnal: Several BJP leaders who switched to the Congress before the recent Assembly elections now want to return to their former party. After facing setbacks in the Congress, they are reportedly eager to join the saffron party, lobbying with senior members for a comeback. However, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that any decision on their return would be taken by the party leadership, which reflected the firm stance of the BJP towards such leaders.

Congress men sent back from Wayanad

Chandigarh: With elections over in Haryana and the Congress failing to make a comeback in the government, some “enterprising” Congressmen, including a former MLA, chose to pack their bags and rushed to Wayanad to campaign for party candidate Priyanka Gandhi. The party did not take their “over-enthusiasm” too kindly as they had gone there uninvited. To nip this move in the bud, on the directions of the AICC, state Congress chief Udai Bhan was forced to send out a letter to the party workers and leaders, advising them against making a beeline to Wayanad unless asked to by the AICC. With no base in Kerala, no clue about the local language, no idea about “duties” they wanted to discharge, the leadership sent them packing right back to Haryana where they belong, clearly underlining that they were not welcome and the party could do without them after having lost their seats and state.

Vij takes on those who worked against him

Ambala: The BJP’s firebrand and outspoken Cabinet minister Anil Vij seems to be in no mood to go easy on the officials and party leaders who allegedly worked against him during the Assembly election. In each public appearance, the minister has been raising the matter of how his projects were stalled and the programmes were disturbed during the election. Vij during a meeting with party workers warned such people and said that he kept his patience then, but now he would not remain silent. The aggressiveness being shown by the minister may create a tricky situation for the saffron party leaders in Ambala Cantonment.

In DC’s absence, Civil Surgeon flags off vans

Mahendragarh: The launching ceremony of mobile vans with all diagnostic facilities in Narnaul town here two days ago to detect tuberculosis has become the talk of the town. The van was to be flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), but the service was launched by Civil Surgeon when the DC did not reach there at the stipulated time. Later, the Civil Surgeon while interacting with the media admitted the same, stating that since the DC was busy in some other programme, so he flagged off the van.

Speculations over two ministers meeting Shah

Faridabad: The recent meeting of the two newly inducted ministers from Faridabad and Palwal with the Union Home Minister in New Delhi seem to have given rise to the speculation in political circles over the purpose of this development. The aim of the meeting according to some could be the issue of free hand and exercise of their authority to avoid any internal tussle between some local leaders of the ruling party becoming a hurdle in use of power in matters of decision making or execution of various development works as both MLAs have become ministers for the first time. One of them is already known for expressing his resentment over the functioning of the local administration during his earlier tenure as MLA.
