Haryana Diary: Civil Surgeon vs City Magistrate
A “dispute” between two local officers — the Civil Surgeon and the City Magistrate (CTM) — has become the talk of the town as the former accused the latter of misbehaving with him and filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner (DC), who too has set up a fact-finding inquiry under the ADC asking him to submit the report by November 18. The issue is stated to be linked with the launching ceremony of mobile vans with all diagnostic facilities in Narnaul town last week. In this ceremony, the Civil Surgeon himself had flagged off the van when the DC did not reach there on stipulated time.
Hooda’s jibe at Vij
Chandigarh: Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda misses no occasion to take potshots at the BJP government through his impromptu, tongue-in-cheek remarks. The other day, Hooda had a perfect antidote for senior minister Anil Vij sulking over not being allocated the all-important Home portfolio. When the matter of reported threat to Vij’s life (flagged by Vij himself) was brought before the Haryana Assembly, Hooda, in his characteristic tongue-in-cheek style, quipped that allocation of Home portfolio to Vij would solve the problem for all times to come. Hooda’s unsolicited advice left ever-smiling CM Nayab Singh Saini, who had pipped Vij to the post for CM’s post twice and currently holds Home, grinning. However, it was refreshingly rare sight to watch a stunned media-savvy Vij not react to Hooda’s jibe.
Local leaders in poll mode
Faridabad: With the new state government settled, local level leaders of various parties, especially the ruling BJP, have become active and have been hobnobbing over the proposed delimitation of the civic wards in the city, whose elections are long due. Though earlier delimitation done about two years ago had been rejected by the majority of leaders and parties claiming lacunae, confusion prevails over the deadline of fresh delimitation work as the base year is yet to be made clear. The number of civic wards has gone up to 46, and elected MLAs have been engaged in finalising the list of the prospective candidates as per their choice, it is revealed. The tenure of the elected members of the civic body came to an end in March 2022.
Thanesar MLA disappointed
Kurukshetra: Thanesar Congress MLA Ashok Arora has expressed disappointment at the “commercialisation” of the International Gita Mahotsav. He is not happy with the food courts and dance performances on the banks of the Brahma Sarovar and has advised the government to maintain the sanctity of the religious places. Arora says over the past few years under the BJP’s regime, Gita Jayanti has been commercialised and it has become a fair now. The government should focus on keeping it a religious occasion, make arrangements and invite people accordingly.
