Haryana Budget: Panchkula gets solar power push

From establishing Panchkula as green/solar smart city to setting up projects like film hub in Pinjore, the government has tried to give a push to the district’s development in the state Budget presented by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday.
“Panchkula will be developed as solar/green city with a target of meeting its 20 per cent energy requirement from solar/renewable energy resources,” as per the 2021-22 Budget statement.

- A nursing institute, a national institute of Ayurveda, an ESI dispensary for Panchkula
- A state-level sports rehabilitation centre
- Bio-safety level-II laboratory
- State archaeology museum
To promote health infrastructure in the district, a nursing institute, a national institute of Ayurveda and an ESI dispensary will be set up in the district.
As far as sports infrastructure is concerned, a state level sports rehabilitation centre will be established in the district.
In view of the Khelo India Youth Games 2021, the Budget proposed developing grounds for hockey, football, basketball and volleyball at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3.
Considering the Asia’s second largest poultry belt is in Barwala, the state government plans to establish a bio safety level-II laboratory with rapid and RT-PCR diagnostics of avian influenza and other poultry diseases in the district.
To promote tourism, Nada Sahib Gurdwara and Mata Mansa Devi Mandir will be developed under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Other announcements for the district include development of a state archaeology museum and provision of night landing facility at Pinjore airport.
Haryana Assembly Speaker and local MLA Gian Chand Gupta while praising the Budget said, “No other district has got these much development projects in this year’s Budget. Projects like film city, state archaeology museum will change city’s landscape and it will surpass Mohali and Chandigarh in terms of development.”
“While the Congress during their tenure completely neglected Panchkula, CM Khattar gave to the district what it deserved,” he said.
