Hamirpur students shine at national sports meet
Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hamirpur, have brought laurels to the school by winning gold and silver medals at the national athletics meet held in Bhubaneswar.
The students were honoured by the school authorities on their arrival at the school today. Principal Sunil Chauhan said Kashish (Class XI) had won gold medal in 1,500 metre and 4,000 metre race, while Ridhima Dhiman, also a student of Class IX, bagged gold in 100x4 relay race.
The principal said 33 students of the school participated in the national games. In Judo, Sahil Thakur of Class X won silver medal in 45-kg weight category and Disha Dogra won a silver medal in Yoga competition.
Sunil Chauhan said two students — Kashish and Akanksha — had been selected for the 68th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in athletics and basketball competitions, respectively.
Physical education teacher Anil Kumar said earlier 66 children of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hamirpur, had participated in the division-level sports competition, in which 52 students had won gold medals and 33 children were selected for the national-level competition.
