A team of BTech (Engineering Physics) students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, has achieved remarkable success at the world’’s largest public hackathon, the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024. Their innovative project was selected for the next phase, placing them among the top contenders from over 10,000 submissions from 150 countries.

The team, comprising Girish, Gaurav Sharma, Aarushi Saini, Ajay Mokta, and Shabd Patel, presented a groundbreaking solution to provide researchers and scientists with precise information on satellite data acquisition. Their project facilitates the direct delivery of this critical data via WhatsApp, enhancing accessibility and streamlining research workflows.

Furthermore, their project aims to improve the accuracy of satellite data from NASA’s Landsat program and the European Space Agency’’s Sentinel satellites. This advancement holds immense potential for various scientific studies, offering valuable insights into diverse fields.

Professor HM Suryavanshi, Director of the Hamirpur NIT, lauded the team’’s efforts and highlighted the significance of this achievement.
