Hamirpur DC clears scrap, generates revenue
On October 30, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh generated revenue of approximately Rs 4 lakh by clearing scrap from eight rooms in the mini secretariat, which houses offices for the district administration, Superintendent of Police, National Information Centre, Judiciary, and treasury. Due to a longstanding space shortage, the building struggled with accommodation needs even after the district courts were relocated.
Singh reported that the rooms were filled with broken furniture, bookcases, and unusable items, which had been accumulating for years. By removing and auctioning off this outdated scrap, the administration not only gained financial benefits but also vacated eight large rooms. The cleared space has now provided ample room for additional branch offices within the Deputy Commissioner’s complex, enhancing cleanliness and operational efficiency.
