Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla flags off relief material to Kullu
Shimla, July 5
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla flagged off vehicles carrying relief material for residents of Kullu district from Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
The relief material includes hygiene kits, tarpaulin, kitchen sets and blankets.
The Governor said in view of the damage caused by rains last year, adequate measures were being taken in advance through State Red Cross Society so that people could get immediate relief in any such situation.
“In the past one year, State Red Cross Society has provided 3,438 hygiene kits, 1,189 blankets, 2,057 tarpaulins, 2,085 kitchen sets and 36 family tents as relief to the needy and the affected residents in various districts,” he said.
Shukla said as a precautionary measure, the first consignment of relief material was being sent to Kullu district and similarly, it would be sent to other districts.
He appealed to the people of the state to remain vigilant at their own level during the monsoon. The Governor urged the tourists not to go too close to rivers and rivulets. He said the tourists visiting tribal areas must inform the district administration about their visit.
