Gurugram playschool to ‘remain shut’ till molestation accused is nabbed
Taking a stern stance in the molestation case of a three-year-old in her playschool, the state woman and child commissions have ordered the closure of the school till the accused is arrested.
Citing the security of the victim and other children as the key concern, Child Rights commission Chairperson Praveen Joshi said: “We have directed the SHO concerned to keep the school closed till the accused is arrested. Our priority is that a child should remain safe.”
Woman Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia, speaking to The Tribune, said the victim’s mother had approached the commission citing harassment by the school and investigating authorities.
“The parents had demanded the CCTV footage but they were kept waiting for five hours and then told that the footage had nothing. We have asked the police to get the CCTV footage, recover it if it’s lost, scan it and nab the accused. Till then, the school needs to be shut as it has proven to be unsafe.”
The Gurugram police said they had formed an SIT in the incident reported five days ago and there has been no clear identification of the accused though family did name two suspects who were small-time employees of the school.
“ We are seriously investigating the matter. Two suspects were named but no clear identification has been made so far by the victim. We are looking at all available evidence and will be able to crack this soon,” said an official spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
