Gurugram, August 17

Panic and chaos gripped Ambience Mall after it received a bomb threat via email on Saturday. Police teams, along with an anti-bomb squad, swiftly arrived at the scene and evacuated the mall. Following an exhaustive search operation that lasted over four hours, no suspicious items were found, and the mall resumed normal operations. A similar threat was also reported at the Mall of India in Noida.

According to the police, the bomb threat was emailed to Ambience Mall management at 9.27 am. The anti-bomb squad and police teams were immediately dispatched, and the mall was evacuated for a thorough check. The email, sent from the address hiddenbones101@gmail.com, was also sent to over 50 other recipients. It read, “I planted bombs in the building. Every person inside the building will be killed; none of you will escape. You deserve death. I planted the bombs in the building because I hate my life. The people behind this attack are Paige and Nora.”

A senior police officer confirmed that an FIR has been registered against unidentified individuals at the Cybercrime East Police Station. The cybercrime unit is actively investigating the matter and attempting to identify the sender of the email.

“We have thoroughly sanitised the mall, with our teams, including the bomb disposal squad and dog squad, meticulously checking every corner for over four hours.

After completing the search operation, nothing suspicious was found, and the mall returned to normal operations. The situation is peaceful, and police personnel have been deployed as a precaution,” stated Vikas Kaushik, ACP DLF.

Meanwhile, the Gurugram Police have assured the public that there is no need to panic regarding security. They are working to trace the source of the threatening emails, which, based on preliminary investigations, appear to be a hoax intended to incite fear.

Three months ago, five schools in Gurugram received bomb threats that also turned out to be false. Additionally, in January, a 37-year-old man was arrested for making a false bomb threat, and in September 2022, a bomb threat at the Leela Ambience Hotel was found to be a hoax made by a 24-year-old Delhi man who was suffering from autism.
