Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has directed all departments to ensure the immediate filling of vacant posts, while prioritising fair representation for persons with disabilities in both recruitment and promotions.

The Administration is grappling with 4,600 vacant posts across various departments, according to recent data compiled by officials. The vacancies, which have accumulated over several years, include positions to be filled through direct recruitment, promotion, and deputation.

An official revealed that a lack of fresh recruitments in recent years has led to large-scale vacancies in nearly all departments. “As a result, many of these vacant posts were considered deemed abolished as they remained vacant for more than the stipulated time periods,” the official stated.
