Grenade attack case: Four suspects granted 5-day police remand by Chandigarh court
A local court in Chandigarh has granted a five-day police remand for four suspects arrested in connection with a hand grenade attack in Sector 10. The accused, Rohan Masih, Vishal, Akash Deep, and Amarjit, were produced before the court today after being brought from Amritsar.
According to police, Rohan Masih and Vishal allegedly hurled a hand grenade at a house in Sector 10, reportedly at the behest of US-based gangster Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Pashia, and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda. The suspects were identified through CCTV footage.
The police sought an eight-day remand but were granted five days to investigate the suspects’ links with Pakistan-based terrorists, determine the source of the grenade, and reconstruct their movements before the attack. The suspects will also be confronted with the auto-rickshaw driver who allegedly transported them to the scene.
Notably, Happy Pashia claimed responsibility for the explosion, targeting a retired superintendent of police who had been on militants’ radar for years.
