Hamirpur, July 5

Himachal Pradesh is heading towards financial bankruptcy. The Congress government has secured over Rs 25,000 crore loans and that, too, not for development but to repay the installments of the present debt, said Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur here today.

He alleged that the state government was spending most of the funds it had in its bounty to benefit only “friends”. The government would fall due to its own deeds and the BJP need not to do anything. It was time for the Congress to introspect and take remedial steps to save its government, he added.

The former Union Minister said that six Congress MLAs had voted against the party candidate in the Rajya Sabha election and three former Independent MLAs, who were supporting the state government, had resigned from the Assembly. This had brought down the Congress’ strength in the Assembly from 43 to 34 MLAs.

On the BJP’s claim of forming government in Himachal Pradesh, Anurag said that if the Congress, which has 99 MPs in the Lok Sabha, could dream of forming government at the Centre then in Himachal, the BJP had a much higher number of legislators.

He said that there was political turmoil in the state. On the Agniveer recruitment scheme, Anurag said that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was misleading even Parliament on the issue. He added that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had explained everything on the scheme in the Lok Sabha. “Even if some per cent of the financial aid was part of the insurance cover for the Agniveer, the Union Government had paid the premium for it,” he claimed.

Anurag said that the BJP would win all three byelections and the strength of the BJP in the Vidhan Sabha would increase to 30.
