Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said the state government was contemplating to formulate a new policy for compassionate employment.

Sukhu, while presiding over a high-level meeting here, said that the government was adopting a liberal and sympathetic approach to offer employment to those whose family members had died while in service. He directed the officers concerned to compile and present the department-wise details of the applicants. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi also attended the meeting.

Sukhu said that the government would take an appropriate decision keeping in view all aspects so that the maximum number of applicants were benefited. “The state government is committed to the well-being of dependants by giving preference to widows and orphans in providing employment on compassionate ground,” he added.

He said that the government had taken numerous initiatives to ensure the well-being of the government employees. “In its first Cabinet meeting, the state government had restored the old pension scheme to all government employees so that they could live a dignified life after retirement,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that the government had also released 11 per cent dearness allowance to all employees and pensioners in two years of its rule.
