The District Election Officer (DEO) of Srinagar has ordered the suspension of a government officer with immediate effect in view of the dereliction of election-related duties.

According to an order issued in this regard by the Srinagar DEO, a government officer namely, Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Director, presently posted in the National Register of Records Office, Srinagar, had been appointed as Zonal Magistrate for the Barzulla Zone, which falls under the Chanpora Assembly constituency.

“The officer, who despite repeated intimation refused to perform his duties, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (K), Srinagar, till further orders,” read the order.

The order further stated that the Additional Deputy Commissioner (K), Srinagar, shall conduct the detailed enquiry into the dereliction of duties and misconduct of the officer and submit the comprehensive report to the DEO Srinagar within a week.
