A capacity building programme aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in procurement processes through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) concluded at Government College, Jukhala, in Bilaspur district yesterday. As many 260 people participated in the programme. These included heads of various colleges, senior secondary and high schools.

The principal of the college said the programme aimed to equip participants with necessary skills and understanding to streamline procurement processes, ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilisation of government funds. “GeM ensures transparency in procurement. Many audit objections and outstanding paras occur due to a lack of understanding of the platform. The training will equip our staff with the knowledge to manage procurement more effectively,” he added. Dhiraj Rai and Ravi Verma, Government of India GeM consultants, apprised participants on registration, payment processes and direct purchases.
