Haryana Govt doctors threaten stir from July 25
Chandigarh, July 8
The government doctors today threatened that if their demands were not accepted they would observe a two-hour pen-down strike on July 15, and then proceed on indefinite strike from July 25.
They would also not provide emergency services, including post-mortem examinations, during the indefinite stir.
One of the major demands of the government doctors is reduction in the postgraduate (PG) bond amount. Currently, a doctor has to provide two sureties of Rs 1 crore each. The doctors have also pointed towards the acute shortage of staff, and delay in promotion from Medical Officers (MOs) to Senior Medical Officers (SMOs), with doctors who joined as MOs in 2002 still awaiting their promotion.
On the call of the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA), doctors from all over the state staged a sit-in outside the office of the Director General (DG) of Health in Panchkula today.
During the protest, talks were held with the DG Health. However, government doctors said they would proceed with an indefinite agitation in the coming days.
