Government declares Punjabi book awards
The Government of Punjab has announced nine Best Literary Book Awards for the year 2024 under various categories of the Best Literary Book Awards for Punjabi books, Punjab Language Department, Punjab.
Punjab Language Department Director Jaswant Singh Zafar said the awards would be presented during the state-level inaugural function of Punjabi Month in the first week of November 2024 at Bhasha Bhawan.
He said the books published during the year 2023 were called for best book awards, and these books were evaluated by learnt subject experts from various fields. He said along with the prize money, a plaque and a shawl would be presented in this award.
A total of 155 books of different categories were received for the said awards.
The Best Literary Book Awards for the year 2024 are as follows: Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir Award (Poetry) is given to Randhir’s book ‘Khat Jo Likhnon Reh Gaye’, Pr. Sujan Singh Award (Story) to Jaswinder Dharamkot’s book ‘Mailanin’, Gurbaksh Singh Preetlarhi Award (Essay/Travelogue) to Satnam Singh Sandhu’s book ‘Shabdaan De Chirag’, Bhai Vir Singh Award (Biography/ Tikakaari/Lexicography) to Prof Paramjit Singh Dhingra’s book ‘Shabad Vanjaare’, Dr Attar Singh Award (Criticism) to Dr Gursewak Lambi’s book ‘Bastivad, Uttar Bastivadi Te Punjabi Natak ‘, Principal Teja Singh Award (Sampadan) to Sarabjit Singh Virk’s book ‘Samuchiaan Likhtaan: Shaheed Bhagat Singh’, Dr. M.S Randhawa Award (Gian Sahit) to Paramjit Mann’s book “Samundarnama: Chhallaan Nall Gallaan”, Shri Guru Harkrishan Award (Children’s Literature) to Jagjit Singh Laddha’s book ‘Pyaara Bharat’ and Prof Gurdial Singh Award (Translation) to Teja Singh Tilak’s book ‘Punjab Utte Kabjaa Ate Maharaja Dalip Singh’.
Jaswant Singh Zafar said the awards for Hindi best book for the year 2024 would be announced soon and would be presented during the functions to be held in the forthcoming Punjabi month.
