Mohali, August 2
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) today trashed the claims of acquisition of land for the Eco City-3 project at New Chandigarh as “rumours”.
GMADA spokesperson said presently the Eco City-3 project stands “denotified” and “further acquisition of land for this project is not under consideration of the authority”.
“GMADA acquires land as per the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013 and in future if there arises any need to acquire land for the Eco City-3 project, due course will be adopted as per the provisions of prevailing Land Acquisition Act,” said the spokesperson.
“As of now, GMADA denies issuance of any letter pertaining to land acquisition for the Eco City-3 project,” the spokesperson added.
Pertinently, a media report, quoting a GMADA letter, had suggested that development authority had announced acquisition of land for the Eco City-3 project at New Chandigarh.
However, the spokesperson said: “The public in general is advised not to accept as true the information being disseminated about land acquisition for the Eco City-3 project as the letter being circulated in this connection is fake.”
“Suitable action will be initiated against those who are misleading the public as the authority maintains zero tolerance against such notorious activities,” the spokesperson added.
