Girl’s body found in tanker
The body of a 17-year-old girl, identified as Muskan from SGM Nagar, was discovered in a tanker near Sector 9 bypass road on Thursday. The tanker’s driver found the body when he went to refill it at a tubewell. The police have launched a probe into her death.
According to Muskan’s family, she had gone missing on October 30 after leaving home without informing anyone. Although the tanker had been parked near the Tikona Park in NIT on Wednesday, the driver only noticed the body the next day, after arriving at a tubewell near Badoli village, approximately 3 km from the initial spot.
The driver reportedly got to know about the body when he saw Muskan’s dupatta stuck in the tanker’s pipe. The tanker, used for sprinkling water on roads as a measure to control dust pollution, was searched by the police, who also retrieved the body while a Forensic Science Laboratory team collected samples from the scene.
Usman, the girl’s father, said although he was unaware of the exact cause of her death, his daughter had been dealing with depression in recent days but hadn’t disclosed the details. He lodged a missing person complaint after she left home around 9.30 pm on Wednesday and didn’t return within an hour. He has requested a thorough investigation to determine whether it was a case of suicide or murder. The SHO of the BPTP police station confirmed that an investigation is underway based on the complaint.
