Recently, it was highlighted in these columns that Japjeet, a 12-year-old, had won a gold medal in javeline throw at the state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Dian that concluded in Ludhiana. Intrestingly, her parents also participated in the same event and won medals as well.

Besides Japjeet who won gold, her mother Amanpreet Kaur won a gold medal in discus throw and her father Bikramjit Singh won a silver medal in javeline throw. Amanpreet Kaur has also remained an international-level athlete and Bikramjit Singh is a coach at sports school.

"It gives me immense happiness and probably we are the only family where all the members won medals in a single event in Punjab," said Bikramjit Singh, who was a student of Government Sports School. He added that his father was also a kabaddi player.
