Garbage treatment plant operational at Baijnath
The Baijnath Municipal Council (MC) has inaugurated a new garbage treatment plant at Burli Kothi, 3 km from Baijnath, to manage waste generated across its 11 wards. The plant, equipped with organic waste converters and a shredder capable of treating over 1,000 kg of garbage per hour, is now operational.
Baijnath MLA and CPS, Kishori Lal, highlighted the plant’s potential to revolutionise waste management. He stated that within two months, the Municipal Council aims to fully optimise the treatment system. This includes the installation of additional composters, waste converters, and shredders, which will significantly reduce the costs of waste disposal.
A machine capable of clearing 5,000 metric tonnes of legacy waste is expected to arrive soon, further enhancing the council’s efforts. Currently, the area generates 5 to 8 tonnes of waste daily. Wet waste will be converted into compost for local use, while dry waste, such as plastic and paper, will be processed by the shredder and sent to cement factories.
The MC’s initiative is set to promote sustainable waste management and reduce environmental impact, benefiting local farmers and government departments with compost production.
