The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) organised a workshop on garbage disposal for operators of hotels, restaurants, palaces, banquet halls and other institutions in Yamunanagar. The chief guest was Yamunanagar Magistrate Piyush Gupta, while Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav presided over the programme.

In the workshop, trainers Rajesh Malik and Sumati of the Urban Local Bodies Department apprised the participants of appropriate methods to dispose of the waste and to prepare compost from wet waste.

Supporting this drive of the MCYJ, Marriage Palace Association assured the authorities of not using single-use plastic and to dispose of the garbage through bulk waste generators. Chief guest Piyush Gupta said residents should also help the MCYJ in making the twin cities clean and beautiful.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav told the participants about Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. “Dry, biomedical and hazardous garbage should be handed over to the vendors authorised by the MC,” he said. “If anyone is found violating the rules, action would be taken against them,” he added.
