Lawrence Bishnoi elected youth wing leader of Bishnoi Samaj
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, named in 85 cases, including of murder, in Punjab, Mumbai and Canada, has been unanimously elected the youth wing head of the All India Bishnoi Animal Protection Samaj.
He was elected in a meeting of the Bishnoi Samaj in Abohar on Tuesday evening.
According to the appointment certificate issued by Inderpal Bishnoi, head of the Bishnoi Samaj, Lawrence had been tasked with ensuring protection of the animals as per the tenets of the Bishnoi community.
Ramesh Bishnoi uncle of Lawrence, in a video message, said that the Bishnoi community had specifically demanded the appointment of Lawrence.
The certificate said, "It will be his responsibility as national head to carry forward the work and responsibility of protecting animals and environment. He will protect the legacy of Amrita Devi and 363 Bishnois who sacrificed their life to save Khejari trees in Rajasthan in the mid-18th century."
Lawrence is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat. He is about 33 years old and belongs to Dutranwali village in Abohar.
He is the prime accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and key suspect in Mumbai realtor and politician Baba Siddique's killing. The Canada police have accused Lawrence Bishnoi of being involved in the murder conspiracy of Khalistan leader Hardeep Nijjar in Surrey last year.
