Did you ever think that you would be the winner of Indian Idol Season 11?

No, when I was selected for Indian Idol, I was so happy that finally I could showcase my talent. After that, I wanted to make my mother proud and the only way to do that was to give my 100 per cent in this journey and that’s what I did.

What was your first thought when you were declared the winner?

Winning or losing is just a part of the show, but I am thankful to God and those who have supported me in this journey. When the announcement was made, I was on cloud nine. I could not control my tears. My dream of becoming a singer is finally achieved.

How are you spending your time at home?

Taking advantage of the lockdown, I am perfecting my singing skill. I am also writing songs and creating tunes. I am spending time with my mother and sister as after a very long time I have got time for them. Not only that, I am also learning to cook a few dishes.

What precautions are you taking against this dangerous virus?

I avoid going out of the house as much as possible, but even when I go out I make sure that I am wearing mask, gloves and carrying a sanitizer with me. As soon as I enter my home, I wash my hands properly and then sanitize them as well. It is always better to be cautious.

What are your favourite Punjabi dishes?

My favourite dishes are dal makhani and sarson da saag.

Who is your favourite Punjabi singer?

Picking up one name will be tough as every singer in Punjab is blessed with a melodious voice. Choosing one is not possible for me.

Share one thing about Punjabis that you like the most?

There are many things which make Punjabis adorable but to name a few—Punjabis are warm people and are ready to help the needy. They are quite daring as well and never run away from any problem.

The best place to eat authentic Punjabi food outside Punjab?

The best place to have Punjabi food outside Punjab is in Delhi. The variety of dishes and their taste are very similar to that of Punjab. Any Punjabi living in Delhi will never miss Punjabi food.

Name one place you like the most?

I like Kashmir for its scenic beauty. Anyone, who has visited Kashmir, would know why it is called the heaven on earth. It is a place everyone should visit at least once. From their hospitality to their culture, everything is wonderful.

Can you cook Punjabi food?

I can cook but not the authentic Punjabi dishes like sarson da saag and other stuff.

What lesson have you learnt from staying at home during the lockdown?

Life is very fickle, and we should not waste it in hating others. It would be better if we maintain harmony and peace. We all are equal.

What is your first priority post-lockdown?

Post-lockdown my first and only priority would be my music.

What is next on your wish list?

I am looking forward to release a few songs.
