From gold jewellery to silver coins to utensils, here’s what celebrities are buying this Dhanteras
Buying gold and silver jewellery, vehicles, and utensils on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. We speak to celebrities to know what they are buying today.
Jewellery for family
Aadesh Chaudhary
This Dhanteras, I’m planning to buy a silver coin and gold jewellery for my family. I also intend to purchase some utensils as it’s considered auspicious. Yes, I try to make at least one significant purchase every Dhanteras, as it symbolises prosperity and good fortune. Every year on Dhanteras, my family and I follow the tradition of worshipping Lord Dhanwantari, the God of health and medicine. We also light diyas, offer prayers, and distribute sweets.
Bought my coin
Rinku Ghosh
To keep up the tradition, I just bought a small silver coin. I will do puja of Lord Dhanvantari and Goddess Lakshmi. It is said one should light the first lamp outside the home in the south direction. This custom is believed to give longevity to the family members.
Keeping the tradition
Ekta Tiwari
I haven’t planned anything as such. But I will buy something for sure, as it’s a tradition. I mostly buy silver thal, katori, spoon, glass lota, diya etc for the temple in my house. Now let’s see what God allows me to buy this year.
Meaningful investment
Monika Singh
I’m going to invest in some gold jewellery. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me to buy something special every year. I feel like it’s a great way to celebrate the festival and also make a meaningful investment. Over the years, I’ve been following the tradition of cleaning and decorating my home to welcome prosperity. I will light diyas and worship Lord Dhanvantari for good health and wealth.
Silver and gold coins
Delnaaz Irani
Every year on Dhanteras, there is one mandatory thing that I do. I buy gold and silver. It can be anything in silver, maybe a utensil, a decorative item for the house, or just a simple, elegant silver piece to keep on the table. I also purchase gold, usually in the form of gold coins or small pieces for myself. I will keep up the tradition this year too. Along with that, it’s also a tradition to decorate the house with traditional lights.
Welcoming positive energy
Manish Nagdev
On Dhanteras, I usually invest in gold or something that holds long-term value. While I don’t follow a set routine every time, I ensure that the purchase symbolises prosperity and well-being, whether it’s gold, silver, or something that feels right in that moment. One tradition I always follow is cleaning the house and doing a puja in the evening. It’s not just about the material purchase but also about welcoming positive energy into the home. This adds a deeper meaning to the celebration beyond just buying things.
Going for gold
Shivangi Verma
Every Dhanteras, I buy gold. I also bought my car on Dhanteras. It is auspicious to buy something today — be it a gold coin, a silver coin or something for the mandir. When we used to shoot, we used to give each other apta or sonpatta as a symbol of gold to each other.
