A significant meeting of the Fourlane Sangharsh Samiti was held at Padhar in Mandi district, with representatives from over 40 local panchayats, women’s and youth committees, the business community and the public. The gathering focused on issues concerning the construction of the four-lane road from Chauntra to Narla on the Mandi-Pathankot highway.

The committee unanimously decided to retain the 2018 alignment of the project, expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Transport, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and the Public Works Minister for granting theoretical approval to the Bhubhu-Jot highway, which reinforces the alignment.

Concerns were raised over potential deviations from the approved alignment. The committee highlighted that such changes, if not aligned with the standards set by the NHAI, might disproportionately benefit select individuals. They warned that any alterations could provoke protests, holding authorities accountable for any resulting unrest.

The meeting concluded with a strong call for authorities to maintain the 2018 alignment and prioritise the interests of the local population while implementing the project.
