Chandigarh: Four drug peddlers, including a juvenile, have been detained by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and 1.19 kg charas has been recovered from them. Mohit, alias Golu (25); Vikram (26), both residents of Hisar, and a juvenile were nabbed by a patrol team with 1 kg drug. During investigation, drug supplier Gopal Prasad Shreshth was arrested from Kullu district with 19.09 gram charas.

7 arrested for stabbing youth

Chandigarh: The police have arrested seven persons for attacking a youth in Sector 42. Lakhan (21) of Attawa, Sector 42, reported that seven persons attacked his brother Rahul with sharp weapons. The assailants repeatedly stabbed him in the stomach. He was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. Aniket (19), Abhishek (22), Vikas (19), Ankita (21) and Krish (18), all residents of Sector 38; Pankaj (18) of Sector 41 and Arun (23) of Sector 56 were arrested.

City BJP general secy dies at 56

Chandigarh: The general secretary of the BJP city unit Hukam Chand (56) passed away on Tuesday. A BJP leader said Hukam Chand felt uneasiness in the chest and was taken to a private hospital in Panchkula. He was operated upon for a minor cardiac problem. After the surgery he talked to people, but collapsed later. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

Ludhiana couple held for theft

Mohali: The police have arrested a Ludhiana couple, Sunil Kumar (45) and wife Pooja (42), for allegedly stealing 144 gm gold and cash from a house in Sector 118. House owner Meenu Wadhwa had gone out of station. Sunil was already booked in five theft cases.
