Four booked for duping Jagraon woman of Rs 15L
The City Jagraon police yesterday registered a case against four persons, including two women, on the charges of committing a fraud and cheating with a boutique owner. The suspects had taken Rs 15 lakh from the victim in the name of police officials.
Three of the suspects have been identified as Jaspreet Kaur of Jagraon, Harwinder Kaur of Jagraon and Amarjot.
The complainant, Sarita Goyal, a resident of Jagraon, told the police that Gurpreet Singh of Sidhwan Khurd had filed a complaint against her and her husband, on the basis of which a criminal case was registered against them at the Sadar Jagraon police station in November 2023. Her family was going through a state of distress due to the case.
She said Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Jagraon, who used to come to her boutique for getting her cloths stiched, took advantage of their situation and said she was well-acquainted with senior police officers and she could easily get the case registered against them cancelled.
The complainant alleged that the woman along with other persons had taken Rs 15 lakh from them in the name of police officers but she failed to get the criminal case cancelled.
The police said after registering a case against the suspects, further investigation was launched in the matter. They said after the arrest of the main suspect, Jaspreet Kaur, the fourth suspect would also be identified in the case.
