Forestry college students excel in national competitive exams
In a remarkable achievement, 25 students of various departments of the College of Forestry, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, have cleared several national-level competitive examinations.
Harish Sharma, a student of the Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, has passed the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) examination and is set to appear for the final selection interview. Additionally, six students from this department excelled in the India Council of Agriculture Research Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) exam, securing top 20 positions.
Sakshi Tomar achieved the first rank, followed by Vijay Kumar (second), Mohd Hussain (third), Ashok Kumar (eighth), Tarun Verma (13th) and Jatin Kumar (17th). From the Silviculture and Agroforestry Department, Darshana Thakur, Kavita, Archana Jamwal and Spardha Sharma also cleared the ICAR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination.
From the Basic Science Department, Vijit Gupta and Vaibhav Chittora qualified for the JRF, while Anchal, Pallavi, Shilpa Devi and Shaina from the Department of Environmental Science also achieved success in the JRF exam.
Muskan Sharma (sixth rank), Pragati (20th rank) and Arushi Thakur from the Soil Science and Water Management Department also passed the JRF examination. Shivan Behal from social sciences and Arvind Rana and Chiraj Bhandari from Forest Products completed the JRF requirements as well.
Vipasha Sharma and Kanika from the Environmental Science and Soil Science departments, respectively, cleared the SRF examination.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Chandel praised all these students for their accomplishments. Dr CL Thakur, Dean of the College of Forestry, along with faculty, staff, and all statutory officers, also offered their best wishes to the students.
