On a complaint lodged by youth Pardeep Kumar, a resident of village Lakhpur near Phagwara, the police have registered a case against his wife on the charges of duping him of Rs 25 lakh on the pretext of settling him in Canada.

The complainant told the police that he had married to the accused Jaspreet Kaur of village Jassomajra near Banga on December 22, 2019. The SP said the victim husband told the police that the accused took Rs 25 lakh from his family and went to Canada.

The victim alleged that his wife neither called him to Canada, nor ever contacted his family. — OC
