Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the International Kullu Dasehra festival. He directed officials concerned to ensure smooth arrangements for the event scheduled to take place from October 13 to 19. The Chief Minister directed the Kullu administration to ensure proper arrangements for the deities taking part in the fair.

He said that this year, international cultural troupes would be the main attraction of the fair and 20 of them were expected to participate. “So far, cultural groups from Russia, Sri Lanka, the USA, Indonesia and Myanmar have confirmed their participation. Besides, artistes from Assam, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Haryana will also be perform. Himachal cultural groups will also have the opportunity to display their talents in the fair,” he added.

Sukhu said that several foreign diplomats were expected to attend the festival. He added that a cultural parade would be organised on October 14. The Kullu Carnival would take place on October 19, featuring tableaus showcasing the programmes and achievements of various government departments.

He said, “To make the Kullu Dasehra more attractive, competitions in kabaddi, volleyball and other sports will also be held.” Sukhu added that 300 Home Guard and 870 police jawans would be deployed for the event.
